Bullying
is more likely happen to children at their school, the place whereby many children
meet their society in their early life. They meet many different peoples who
have different habit, different culture, different appearance, different hobby,
and so on. At school, they interact to each others such as communicating for
some interest, sharing the experiences and make friends. However, in fact the
good relationship is not always built. The differences do not always cause a
good relation. Moreover, differences sometimes build the majority condition and
minority condition in a certain community.
All
of conditions that are assumed as the majority will be admitted as the ideal
condition. Hence, the difference which is the outlier of the community
sometimes being recognized extremely different. As if the most of students in a
school have the white skin, then the students who have the brown skin will become
the minority and recognized as the weird (un-ideal) conditions. Moreover, if
the differences could not be accepted, the children are usually treated differently
by their surroundings.
As
what was happened to ken (on the article bully 1) and also to Ting (on the
article bully 4), the differences that they have are the most causes who make
them got bullying from their friends. Both of them have their unique condition
in which Ken is diagnosed with his Asperger Syndrome and Ting with her language
difficulties. Then, it accidentally bothers their ability to interact with the
society so that Ken and Ting are more likely hard to get acceptance because
they can’t communicate effectively.
However,
if all of members of a community could interact effectively to each others,
they could overcome all of differences that appear. It is because the
communication is effectively done and the differences could be communicated as
uniqueness, not as inhibitor. Moreover, the effective communication skills
should be built since the early childhood education. Hence, it really makes
sense, if the early childhood teachers guide the children to communicate
effectively. The teacher should build students ability to communicate their
needs and wants. Besides, the teacher should also teach them how to respond the
differences in order to make them accustomed to the unwilling conditions.
